I'm still here! I know it's been quite a while since I last posted but I'm still here and still making and creating. I've been so busy with my day job plus my Ebay store (yes, now I also have an Ebay store), plus all the chores in the garden and house, plus The Runic Otter, that the digital aspect of blogging and posting about the behind-the-scenes stuff seems to always take a back seat. I thought today, while I have a few moments, I'd do an update about what's been going on.
My rune card idea shifted focus and turned into wooden "Mega Runes" that I burned and then added color with Prismacolor pencils.
Mega Runes - First Aett
I wanted to give a different visual to each rune than what you might normally see. I feel like people get stuck in a rut when it comes to the runes, and I tried to use this project to break away from that. I'm more than pleased with how they turned out. I still like the idea of rune cards, though. These images may still be used on that type of project too. We'll see.
While I was making those, I also took some time to crochet some winter ear warmers.
Braided Ear Warmer & Fallen Leaves Ear Warmer
I haven't made any sales on those yet, but my fingers are crossed that as the cooler weather approaches, they'll start selling. What I have had success with is an egg basket that I designed. I listed both the pattern and physical product, and both have been selling really well!
Baker's Dozen Egg Basket
I've actually sold out of the baskets and I'm currently working to restock those in some new colors. While all that is going on, I'm also beginning some decorative painted Halloween items. I have wooden hanging plaques and some ceramic / plaster decorations that I need to really get rolling on.
Wooden Halloween Plaques - Primed and Ready to Paint
Last year, I started painting some trucks and Santas, but after many attempts at getting them right, decided to prime over them and start over. At a certain point, the paint starts to get muddy and the errors just keep compounding. I figured a fresh start would be best.
Santas & Trucks Before I Re-Primed Them
That's pretty much the latest rundown on what's going on in my shop and my corner of the world. I have more projects on my to-do list than I will ever probably complete, but at least I can't say that I'm ever bored! I'll say that I'll try to keep this blog more current. You know that means that it's added to my to-do list? Please refer three sentences back for the status of my to-do list.
