Allowing

Good Lord, it's been a minute hasn't it? I want, and maybe need to get this blog back going to keep it all current. I've been trying to do the same with my social pages, but you know, I just really dislike it all.
I was doing great in my Etsy shop with my egg baskets but I got sick of making them. So I stopped and that meant my shop took a big hit. It was a drag to be sitting there making the same damn thing over and over and over again. As I've said before, if it feels like a chore, I want no part of it. The problem is, if I ever want to break out of my desk job, I need that shop to be fluid and selling. So how do I find that balance?
I'm starting by letting my brain wander down little creative tangents. I'm allowing myself to work on 3 different things at a time and not feel bad about it. I know that I need to "create inventory", but what I need to create even more is enjoyment. So that's where I'm starting.      I'm choosing projects that make my heart smile.
I'm also allowing myself to work on projects that are just for me. Not everything that I make is for sale and you know what? That's OK.  I can be be creative just for the fun of it. If the end result of that is something that sells, well great! If it doesn't, well, I just got something new for the house or to gift to someone. I don't care any more.
The last thing is a biggie. I'm allowing myself to be free. Free from pressure, whether that's self-imposed or peer. I no longer give a rat's behind what everyone is else is selling, what they're making, how they're promoting it or whether they're on this that or the other social media. I realize that the fact of the matter is that I need a social presence if I'm going to increase any sales but I also realize that I cannot be creative whilst strapped to a "device".
Maybe the solution is to come up with some sort of schedule for posting, sharing, advertising, etc.
I'm not making any promises. I don't make a promise unless I know I can deliver on it. All I can say is that an effort will be made to be more present on the techinical, digital, and social side of my art.
     Until next time...
